Managing food/green waste

Almost half of the average household rubbish bag contains garden and organic food waste. When deposited in landfill this produces methane and leachate which can pollute local waterways and soil. It is easy to use the goodness from these materials to improve your soil, grow healthier vegetables etc, and improve the environment.

Waste Exchange - TerraNova

The TerraNova website: www.terranova.org.nz provides a FREE service for schools, businesses or individuals wishing to give away or request unwanted items that have a potential for re-use. The service is a particularly useful resource to enable schools and community groups to receive items such as materials for art projects; electronic equipment; furniture etc. This can be done by registering with TerraNova to receive information about such items.
